The palmtrees and bamboos of Betous

In the 'Palmeraie du Sarthou' in Betous, you can learn everything about palmtrees, bamboos and many other exotic shrubs. Recommended, and only 7 km from Aignan.

Vineyards of Madiran and Saint Mont

The region is a real paradise for wine fans.
Though Aignan is part of the 'Appellation d’Origine Protégée Saint Mont', it is the small village of Saint Mont that is the center of this wine region, only 24km from Aignan. The Saint Mont region produces red, rosé as well ass white wines. This year, the Saint Mont wine festival takes place from March 22nd till 24th.
Around the village of Madiran, about 25 km from Aignan, you can explore the vineyards of the red Madiran wine and the white Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh.
Of course, Aignan is also located in the heart of the Armagnac area. A tasting of this locally produced liquor must be included on your todo list.

Music festivals

The Gascony region is the place to be for numerous renowned music festivals. The most famous is the yearly Jazz festival at Marciac. The 3 weeks Jazz feast t attracts way hundreds of thousands people. The whole village is turned into one jolly feast. Knowing that Marciac is only 25 km from Aignan, makes the 'Domaine Sainte Barthe' an ideal lodging place. But Marciac is not only this one festival. Year round, there are music performances organised.

Mirande (50 km from Aignan) organises yearly a real country festival. Be here from July 11th till 14th 2013.
Vic-Fezensac (22 km from Aignan) organises the Tempo Latino festival. Time for Latin music and dances in Gascony !

Autocircuit Paul Armagnac

Nogaro (15 km from Aignan) is well known for it's circuit where car, truck and motorcycle races are held. Fortuntely, the peaceful quietness of Aignan is not disturbed by the noisy activities at the Nogaro circuit.

Auch

Auch is the capital of the Gers department. History, culture, shopping is a delight in Auch. The historic center has a magnificent cathedral. Auch is only 50 km from Aignan. Perfect for a full day trip.

Lourdes at the foot of the magnificent Pyrenees

It's an hour and a half ride toward Lourdes. Here you really stand at the foot of the Pyrenees, with the towering peak of  'Pic de Bigorre' nearby.
